The Legend of Bheem Pul Story

It is a well-known naturally existing stone bridge in Uttarakhand near Badrinath Temple, but there is an enormous history behind this giant pul. Legends believe that this bhim pul was built to cross the roaring Saraswati River to reach the Swargrohan Marg, the path to heaven.

The Ancient tales hold that the bravest Bhim in the Mahabharat, one of the strongest Pandava brothers, created this giant and massive stone Saraswati River bridge during their exile.

The Bheem Pul story says that while the final pilgrimage of the Pandavas in the Himalayas, Draupadi, the wife of the Pandavas, could not cross the fast and fierce Saraswati River.

Seeing her struggling to cross the bridge, Bheem lifted a cosmic rock and placed it across the fast-flowing Saraswati river to help her cross the river safely.

After this, that rock is now renowned as the Bhim Pul. This stone bridge signifies the devotion, ruthless strength, and brotherly love of Bhima towards Draupadi.
