So that, in the event of a future disaster, the government can easily track each individual and their probable location and evacuate them.

You can get registration from the official website of the Uttarakhand government, i.e., "https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/chardham-yatra-uttarakhand.php" or you can refer the the process of char dham yatra registration blog or if you are travelling with Manchala Mushafir, you need not worry about anything. Since then, people are following the same sequence to complete their darshan at all the Char dham temples.

All four dhams of the Chota Char dham pilgrimage are located at the origin of rivers in India. Yamunotri is dedicated to the Yamuna, Gangoti temple is dedicated to the holy river Ganga, Kedarnath is famous as the home of Lord Shiva, and Badrinath Dham is for Lord Vishnu. Kedarnath temple is on the bank of the river Mandakini, and Badrinath temple is on the bank of the river Alaknanda.

As per the holy scriptures, the first trip to Char dham was done by the Pandavas after the war of Mahabharta. According to some other scriptures, Philosopher Sankracharya (Adi Sankracharya) discovered this Char dham route, which is depicted as the gateway to heaven.

Temples at the Chota Char dham Yatra remain open only for six months in a year, i.e., between May and November. But mid-June to mid-August is rainy season in this area, with a chance of heavy rainfall and land slides. And the months of September to November are notorious for cold winds and heavy snowfall. So, May to mid-June can be considered the most favourable time for the Char dham Yatra.

The Char dham yatra is not particularly difficult. Ya, it's a bit lengthy with some short treks at Yamnotri and Kedarnath, but if you are active in your day-to-day life and have basic physical fitness, then this trip is going to be a cakewalk for you.

Depending upon the mode of transport, the duration of the Char dham yatra will vary a lot. If you are going to take this yatra by helicopter, it is not going to take you more than 5 days. But if you are travelling by road, then you have to plan for at least a 9-day trip to complete it with ease.
