When I visited Devprayag, I started my journey from Delhi. I took a direct Volvo bus to Haridwar, and from there, I hired a shared taxi to Devprayag. The route was scenic and comfortable, and this is one of the easiest ways to reach for anyone coming from northern India.

If you are traveling from another city or abroad, the best option is to first reach Delhi, as it’s the most well-connected point in India for Devprayag.

  • By Air:-You can take a flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), New Delhi, which operates both domestic and international flights from major cities and countries.

  • By Train:-Delhi has several major railway stations — New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS), Old Delhi Railway Station (DLI), and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station (NZM) — all of which are well-connected to almost every part of India. 

  • By Road:-If there’s a direct bus from your city to Delhi you can take it.

Step 1- From Delhi To Haridwar/Rishikesh


By Air


There are no direct flights available for Delhi to Haridwar/Rishikesh. The nearest airport from Haridwar/Rishikesh is (Jolly Grant Airport) Dehradun at a distance of 38 kilometers from Haridwar and 15 Kilometers from Rishikesh.


so you can prefer to commute from Delhi (Indira Gandhi International Airport) to Dehradun (Jolly Grant Airport) through direct flights by airlines like Air India, IndiGo, which will cost you around ₹1,500 – ₹5,000. Covers the distance of 200Km by air in 45 to 60 mins.


From there you can hire Taxi/Cab to move further– To Haridwar (38Km) or Rishikesh (18Km)

SUV - ₹1,800-₹2,500

By Train

If you are preferring to commute through the road, many Private and Government buses are available for visitors.

The distance from Delhi to Haridwar is 239.7 Kilometers which takes 4 to 5 hrs. to cover the distance, and it takes 4.5 to 6 hrs. to cover the distance of 258.9 Kilometers from Delhi to Rishikesh. There are three main route from Delhi.

Route 1→Delhi → Ghaziabad → Modinagar → Meerut → Muzaffarnagar → Roorkee → Haridwar → Rishikesh (245 kms)- By NH-334

Route 2→ Meerut Expressway → Meerut → Muzaffarnagar → Roorkee → Haridwar → Rishikesh (240 kms)

Route 3→ Hapur → Garhmukteshwar → Bijnor → Najibabad → Haridwar → Rishikesh (260 kms)


The Typical & most common route favored by visitors via National Highway 334 (NH-334), because of these reason  
  1. It’s the most direct and well-maintained route from Delhi to Haridwar/Rishikesh.
  2. NH 334 is a national highway with smooth roads and regular maintenance.

  3. You’ll find ample food joints, fuel stations, and rest stops along the way.

  4. Volvo and government buses also use this route—making it ideal for both car and bus travelers


Road Condition -

The road from Delhi to Haridwar/Rishikesh via NH 334 is in excellent condition for most of the route.
  • Delhi–Meerut (Expressway): 6-lane highway, very smooth.

  • Meerut–Muzaffarnagar–Roorkee: Good roads with moderate traffic.

  • Roorkee–Haridwar–Rishikesh: Well-maintained and scenic
