About Kedarnath

Kedarnath is a small hamlet located at an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level, known for the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, known as the Kedarnath temple. The actual origin of this temple is yet unknown, but as per the holy scriptures, it is said that this temple was built by Pandavas after the war of Kurukshetra when they visited here in search of lord Shiva. This temple is also a part of the Panch Kedar temple, and the hump of lord shiva in the form of Nandi is being worshipped here. Other temples of Panch Kedar are Rudranath, Mahdyamaheshwar, Kalpeshwar and Tungnath temple.

This beautiful temple is situated on the bank of the Mandakini River, surrounded by snow-capped mountains on three sides and a deep valley in front of the temple. All these snow-capped mountains appear as the crown of the temple. This temple can only be accessed by trekking of about 16 km from Gaurikund, which is the last motorable road in this region. Due to high altitude and tough terrain, the weather around this region is very uncertain. Dhari Devi Temple:- Well known as the protector god of Char Dham temples, Dhari Devi temple is one of the most loved temples of this circuit. Located in the middle of the Alaknanda River, this is a temple of great importance and a form of Maa Kali's upper body part is being worshipped at this place, while the lower body part of this deity is being worshipped at Kalimath Temple. This is also said that the form of the idol of this temple changes with time, which means that during the daytime, the idol will appear like a small kid, in the afternoon, she will appear as a young lady and in the evening, she will be like an old woman. All those who are coming to this region for 4 Dham yatra or Do dham yatra must visit to this temple and take blessings of Maa Dhari devi before proceeding further.

Triyuginarayan Temple:- Do you know that lord Shiva and Maa Parvati got married at a place located in Uttarakhand near Kedarnath? Yes, it's known as Triyuginarayan temple and it got its name as it has been standing there since the 3 yugas, i.e. Satyuga, Dwaparyuga and Tretayuga. Located at an altitude of 6500 feet above sea level, this is a place where lord shiva and Maa Parvati got married, and this temple became the witness of the first love marriage.

Guptkashi Temple:- The Literal meaning of the word Guptkashi is "Gupt", i.e. hidden, and Kashi is the favourite place of lord shiva.
