You can book these services at the booking center in Janki Chatti, the starting point of the Yamunotri trek. Many of the local service providers provide the service here. You can book these services from booking counters, or you can deal with them directly. But if you are dealing with them directly, then ensure making a good deal.

Can Ghoda (Horse), Kandi, Khachhar (Mule), and Palki be booked online?

No, you can’t book these services online; they can only be booked at the offline booking counters or from the individual providing this service.

Can I book a horse, palki, or mule in the middle of the trek?

Yes, you can book a horse, palki, or mule at any point along the trek. Many of the local service providers give the service at any point of the trek. But this is going to cost you heavily, as they will take advantage of your tiredness and compulsion.

Can I book the services for both sides or not?

Yes, you can book the service on both sides. It is available from both sides, but it is better to book one side and after darshan, then book the other side, and on the downhill, there is are high chance that you can get these services at much cheaper rates. Also, you need not worry about its availability as there are many service providers.

Is it safe to ride Horses, Kandi, palki, or mules in this peak season?

Yes, it is safe to ride these services in peak season. The horse and mule are well-trained, and Palki is also safe. The porters are experienced and knowledgeable so you don’t have to worry about anything. But ensure booking these services only from those who are registered with the government and have a proper I-card. For safety, you can take a photo of their pass and send it to your near and dear ones.

What is the duration it takes for a Horse, a Kandi, a palki, or a mule to reach the Yamunotri temple?

The duration taken by the horse, Pitthu, Palki, or mule to go uphill from Janki chatti to Yamunotri temple is as follows:- 
Horses: it takes around 2-3 horses to reach the temple. 
Pithhu:- It will take around 3 to 4 hours to reach the temple, as their pace is very similar to a normal trekker's pace. 
Palki: Palki is slower than both; it takes 4-5 horses to reach the Yamunotri temple. This palki is being carried by four members walking in harmony.

Is it important to book these services?

No, it is not compulsory to book; many travellers visit the temple by trekking, but if you want an easy and smooth journey and to avoid the trek, you can book these services.
