Experience the spiritual journey to the Kedarnath and Badrinath temples — also called the 2 Dham Yatra — with Manchala Mushafir like never before. In this package, we will cover Chopta, Tungnath Temple, Mana Village, Panch Prayag, and many more in addition to the main temples.
What Is Do Dham Yatra?
The Do Dham Yatra (also called the 2 Dham Yatra) is a Himalayan pilgrimage covering two shrines in Uttarakhand: Kedarnath, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Unlike the longer Char Dham Yatra, which also includes Yamunotri and Gangotri and typically takes 9-12+ days, the Do Dham Yatra focuses on just these two temples and is usually completed in 5-7 days depending on the starting point and itinerary.
A road-based Do Dham journey typically starts from Haridwar or Rishikesh, travels toward Kedarnath via Guptkashi and Gaurikund (the last stretch on foot), then continues to Badrinath before returning to the starting point.

- Rudraprayag to Guptkashi: 45 km via NH 109. Last 10 km is narrow, expect slower travel.
En Route Highlights
Day 1 includes sightseeing at Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Dhari Devi Temple.
Night Stay
Check-in at Musafir Resort, Guptkashi. Enjoy a calm dinner and rest for the next day's trek.
Drive Distance: 35 km | Drive Duration: 1–2 Hours | Trek Distance: 16 km | Sightseeing: Sonprayag, Gaurikund, Bhimbali, Rambada, Lincholi, Kedarnath Temple | Night Stay: Kedarnath | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Day Plan
On Day 2, we will start our journey early at 4:00 AM from Guptkashi to reach Sonprayag on time. It's a road journey and will take around 2-3 hours to reach there. There are high chances that due to heavy traffic congestion, our vehicle may stop 500 to 1000 meters before Sonprayag. So be mentally prepared to walk this distance.
After reaching Sonprayag, we need to take a government taxi to reach Gaurikund. Our guide will arrange a taxi for each of the devotees and will pay the taxi charges.
As we are starting our journey too early from Guptkashi, we prefer to have breakfast at Gaurikund. After breakfast, we will start our trek to the Kedarnath temple.
It will take around 7 to 8 hours to trek and reach the Kedarnath Temple. You'll check into one of our partner stays right near the temple — Kedar Ratri, Jalandhar House, or Sunil Guest House (allotted based on availability), all within about 100 meters of the temple.
If you are planning to take ghoda khachhar then you can book it from the government counter available at Gaurikund, or else you can also deal with the service provider directly.
Route Overview
- Guptkashi to Sonprayag: 30 km on a single-lane road; slow and bumpy ride expected.
- Sonprayag to Gaurikund: 5 km taxi ride; steep, winding roads climbing from 2,936 ft to 6,502 ft.
- Gaurikund to Kedarnath: Gradual climb passing Rambada Bridge and Badi Linchauli. Last 1.5 km is flat to the temple.
Drive Distance: 35 km | Drive Duration: 1–2 Hours | Trek Distance: 16 km | Night Stay: Guptkashi | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Day Plan
Today is the day of your darshan to lord Kedarnath. So get ready and join the line by 4:00 AM. Temple will open at 5:00 AM, and you can have darshan comfortably by 7:00 AM.
Prefer to avoid the general queue? We can also arrange Kedarnath VIP Darshan for a faster, more comfortable temple visit.
After having darshan, we will visit the Bhairavnath temple, Bhim shila, Omkar, Retas Kund and Adi Shankaracharya samadhi located near the temple. Then we will proceed to breakfast and start trekking down to Gaurikund.
From Gaurikund, our guide will arrange a taxi for Sonprayag. We will try our best to park our vehicle in Sonprayag parking, but there is a chance that due to unavailability of parking slot, you may find the vehicle at Sitapur parking, which is another 1 kms from Sonprayag.
We will return to our resort at Guptkashi and relax.
Night Stay
Stay at Musafir Resort, Guptkashi and relax for the next day's journey to Badrinath.
Drive Distance: 200 km | Duration: 6–7 Hours | Altitude: 10,830 ft | Night Stay: Badrinath | Start Time: 6:00 AM | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Departure Information
After having breakfast, we will start our journey at 7:00 AM. From Guptkashi, we will go to Chopta valley and do a trek to Tungnath temple. It is the height shiva temple and one of the panch prayag. The forelimbs of Lord Shiva are being worshipped here as a shivlinga.
After having darshan, we will return to Chopta and go to Badrinath.
This is the longest day of the trip — around 200 km of driving combined with the Tungnath trek and darshan stop, so plan for roughly 9–10 hours on the road from Guptkashi to Badrinath.
Route Overview
- Chopta to Tungnath Trek: 3.5 km scenic trek through meadows and forests.
- After returning to Chopta, continue drive to Badrinath via Mandal, Joshimath, and Pandukeshwar.
Night Stay
Check-in at Mritunjay Palace, Badrinath and rest after a long day of travel and darshan at Tungnath.
Drive Distance: 311 km | Duration: 7–8 Hours | Start Time: 7:00 AM | Meals: Breakfast
Day Plan
Today, we will also get up early in the morning and join the darshan line by 4:00 AM so that we can have darshan of lord Badrinath by 6:00 AM. After having darshan, we will proceed toward Mana village and cover the sightseeing around the temple.
Then we will return to the Badrinath hotel, have breakfast and then start our return journey to Haridwar by 10:00 AM.
Visit to Mana Village
If time permits, visit Mana Village, the first village of India. We don't provide Vasudhara fall visit in our Do dham yatra group tour but you can get it included in your personal tour. Contact our customer care executive for more detail about it.
Journey Overview
Enroute witness Panch Prayag: Vishnuprayag, Nandaprayag, Karnaprayag, Rudraprayag, and Devprayag.
Conclusion of the Trip
Arrival in Haridwar/Rishikesh around 10–11 PM. The 2 Dham Yatra concludes with unforgettable memories.
Pro Tips
Plan onward travel with a 3–4 hour buffer due to possible mountain road delays.

Kedarnath vs Badrinath - What's Different?

| Deity | Lord Shiva | Lord Vishnu |
| Terrain | High-altitude trek from Gaurikund | Road-accessible temple town |
| Main Physical Challenge | The trek itself | Long mountain-road journey |

On most road-based Do Dham itineraries, Kedarnath is visited first since it involves the main trek - completing it earlier makes the remaining journey to Badrinath more relaxed. There's no fixed rule every traveller must follow; the confirmed order depends on the operator's itinerary, road conditions and temple schedules.
Best Time to Visit
The best time for Do Dham Yatra is May–June and September–October, when weather conditions are stable and road connectivity is smooth. Avoid July–August due to heavy monsoon rainfall.
For detailed seasonal guidance, read our complete guide on Best Time to Visit Dodham Yatra.

Essential Tips for Dodham Yatra
Important guidelines to ensure a safe, well-prepared, and comfortable journey to Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Medical Fitness
Consult your doctor before planning the yatra, especially if you have heart conditions, breathing issues, or recent bypass surgeries. Also inform our guide before starting your trip or while briefing on first day, so that he can keep good care of you and can suggest the best possible remedies and precautions.
Follow Official Guidelines
Always follow instructions from your tour guide and local authorities for a safe and smooth journey.
Note:- Guide is the ultimate authority after starting the trip and his decision will be final and binding in case of emergency or health issue.
Stay Hydrated
Carry a reusable water bottle and drink water at regular interval to keep yourself hydrated. You can refill your waterbottle from the natural fountains enroute. Although these water are naturally pure but you can use water purifying tablet for extra layer of protection.
Carry Energy Snacks
Keep dry fruits, energy bars, or light snacks handy to maintain stamina during long road journeys and treks. Avoid heavy or oily meals during the trek or road journey. If you feel uncomfortable at any point of time, inform your driver or guide immediately.
Keep Documents Secure
Carry Aadhaar card, registration slip, Manchala Mushafir booking receipt and medical prescriptions in a waterproof pouch for quick and safe access. It's recommended to take a hard copy of these documents as mobile battery will drain very fast in chilling climate on mountains.
Respect the Environment
Avoid littering along trekking routes and dispose of waste responsibly to preserve the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
Avoid Alcohol & Smoking
Alcohol and smoking are strictly prohibited on the trip. It reduces stamina and can cause breathing complications at higher altitudes. So avoid it.

There were a couple of communication gaps on which you can improve but for us, the good service you provided(query resolution in just a single call to your team no matter what) overpowered all the small hiccups and I highly recommend your service to anybody going for Kedarnath Yatra. Thanks, for trying your level best to give us comfortable stay in super challenging terrains🙏"

"🌟 Chopta–Tungnath Trek with Manchala Mushafir – A Memorable Experience! We recently did the Chopta–Tungnath trek with Manchala Mushafir, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment our journey started, everything was well-organized and perfectly managed. 🏔️ Chopta, known as the ‘Mini Switzerland of India’, truly lived up to the name — serene, scenic, and peaceful. The trek to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, was a bit challenging but totally worth it. The view from Chandrashila top was surreal — 360-degree Himalayan ranges covered in snow. Breathtaking! 🏕️ Our stay in Chopta was in proper cottages with clean rooms, hot water, and good food – a rare find at such heights. The local guide provided by Manchala Mushafir was experienced, friendly, and kept the group motivated throughout the trek What stood out the most was the personal touch from the Manchala Mushafir team – they weren’t just organizers, they felt like co-travelers who genuinely cared. 💯 Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore Uttarakhand's beauty in comfort and good company. Trust me, this trip is going to stay in your heart for a long time!"
