Both are different; one is in the Uttarkashi district near Gangotri, and the other is in the Rudraprayag district, which serves as a base for the Kedarnath trek. 

Surya Kund and Gaurikund are the most photogenic sites in Gangotri; as the sun shines at the falls, a rainbow appears, adding a magical touch to the place and making it an ideal shot to capture.

  • By Air: The Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport to Gangotri. From the airport, hire a taxi to reach Gangotri.


  • By Train: Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun are the nearest railheads to Gangotri temple. From the railway station take a bus or taxi to reach Gangotri. 


  • By Road: Gangotri is well connected by road by the NH-108 road. Buses are easily available from Haridwar and Rishikesh to Gangotri. Taxis are also readily available for Gangotri.
