Kedarnath Yatra registration is free and mandatory for every pilgrim. You can register on the official portal registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in, on the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app, on WhatsApp (8394833833) or at offline counters in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar and Sonprayag. You receive a QR-coded Yatra registration letter, which is checked at Sonprayag and at Kedarnath.

Is Kedarnath Registration Mandatory?

Yes. Kedarnath registration is mandatory for every pilgrim, whether you walk, ride a pony or palki, or fly by helicopter. Without the QR-coded registration letter you will be stopped at the checkpoint and asked to register before you continue.

Registration exists for safety and crowd control: after the 2013 floods, the state tracks every pilgrim on the route so it can manage daily numbers and reach people in an emergency.

Kedarnath Registration Fee

Kedarnath Yatra registration is free (₹0) on every channel: the official portal, the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app, WhatsApp and the offline counters. The government does not charge any registration fee.

Kedarnath Registration Dates 2026 and 2027

There is no fixed last date for Kedarnath registration. It stays open through the season, but a date can close once its daily slots are full, especially in May, June, September and October. Registrations have been paused before: in 2023 Kedarnath registration was halted until 8 May because of bad weather, and in 2024 offline registration was suspended until 31 May while online slots were full until 20 June. Register as soon as the portal opens for your dates.

4 Ways to Register for Kedarnath

How to Register for Kedarnath Online

Register online at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in: create an account, create a tour with your Kedarnath date, then add each pilgrim with Aadhaar OTP. It takes about 10 minutes per group.

1. Go to the official portal and choose Register/Login (sign-in page). Sign up with your mobile number and email.
2. Click Register for Tour and enter your travel dates, number of pilgrims, mode of travel and Kedarnath as the Dham. A tour ID is created.
3. Add each pilgrim: enter the Aadhaar number and the OTP; name, age, gender and photo are fetched automatically. Add an emergency contact.
4. Submit and download the registration letter (PDF with QR code) for each pilgrim. Keep it on your phone and carry a printed copy.

Foreign Nationals and NRIs Without Aadhaar

Choose the Foreign Pilgrim option when you sign up. The steps are the same, except that you enter your passport details and upload a photo instead of Aadhaar OTP. NRIs who have an Aadhaar card can use the Indian process.

Kedarnath Registration App

The official app is Tourist Care Uttarakhand, on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It works like the website: log in with your mobile number, choose Register for Tour, select Kedarnath and your date, add pilgrims with Aadhaar OTP (or passport for foreigners), and download the QR letter in the app. The same account works on both the app and the website.

Kedarnath Registration on WhatsApp

Yes, you can register for Kedarnath on WhatsApp: save 8394833833, send the word Yatra and follow the chatbot. This is listed in the official portal’s WhatsApp registration guide. Up to 5 pilgrims can be registered from one WhatsApp number.

1. Save 8394833833 and open a WhatsApp chat with it.
2. Send Yatra, choose Char Dham Registration and confirm.
3. Select the number of pilgrims (maximum 5), the mode of travel (road, helicopter or walking) and your Kedarnath date.
4. For each pilgrim enter name, age, gender, country, Aadhaar number (for Indians), address, an emergency contact who is not travelling, any medical conditions and a photo.
5. Confirm, and the registration letter PDF is sent in the chat. Choose Yes to add more pilgrims.

Kedarnath Offline Registration Counters

If you have not registered online, you can register at an official offline counter with your original photo ID; your fingerprints are taken and you get a printed QR slip. Counters open shortly before the yatra starts and can have waits of several hours in May and June.

Documents Required for Kedarnath Registration

For Kedarnath online registration, Indians need an Aadhaar number linked to a mobile (for OTP) and a recent photo; foreign nationals need a passport. At offline counters and checkpoints, carry the same original photo ID you used to register.

Verify or Download Your Kedarnath Registration

• Verify or re-download your registration letter: open Verify Yatra Letter, enter your registration number, registered mobile number and the captcha. Do this especially if an agent registered you.
• Download your Yatri Darshan certificate after the yatra: open Download Yatri Certificate and enter the same details, or log in and use Manage Pilgrims → Certificate.

Change or Cancel Kedarnath Registration

You can change your Kedarnath travel date, but you cannot cancel an online registration. Log in, open your tour from the dashboard (Action column), change the date if slots are available and download the new letter. Name and Aadhaar cannot be changed on an existing registration; register again if they are wrong. If you registered offline, go back to a counter to make changes.

Travel on the date shown on your letter. If your plans change, change the date on the portal before you set off rather than hoping to be let through at Sonprayag.

Darshan Token at Kedarnath Temple

Registration gets you to Kedarnath; the darshan token gets you a time slot at the temple. The official portal lists a Queue Token Slot Counter at Kedarnath Temple and advises pilgrims to collect the Dham darshan slot token for smooth darshan. Show your registration letter at the counter, note your slot time and join the queue at that time. The token system was used through the 2026 season to manage the crowd at the temple.

How Many Pilgrims Can Visit Kedarnath Per Day?

There is no fixed daily limit published on the portal as of 11 October 2026. Official caps of about 12,000 (2022) and 13,000 (2023) pilgrims a day were announced in earlier years, and 2026 reports put it at about 15,000–18,000. The government adjusts the numbers by season and weather, which is why dates in May and June fill up first.

Medical Certificate and Health Registration

You do not need a medical certificate to register for Kedarnath. The registration form asks whether you are a cardiac, asthmatic or diabetic patient and about any serious condition, so declare these honestly. The portal also links to the state’s eSwasthya Dham health portal (launched in 2026 for health monitoring during the yatra); check the official portal for whether it is required for your dates. Kedarnath Registration Problems and Fixes

OTP not received

• Check the mobile number linked to Aadhaar and your network.
• Wait a few minutes before asking for a new OTP; repeated requests can lock you out.
• Check whether this person is already registered; double registration is not allowed.

Portal not loading

Traffic is worst between 10:00 AM–2:00 PM and 6:00 PM–10:00 PM in peak season. The portal works best between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM or 11:00 PM and 2:00 AM. Clear your cache, try another browser or a laptop, or use the app or WhatsApp instead.

Registration showing invalid

Check the letter on the Verify Yatra Letter page with the right registration number and mobile number, and make sure the date and Dham are correct. If it still fails, call the helpline.
